Meridian police are looking for a 25- to 30-year-old black man who reportedly got away with grabbing a cash register and fleeing a local tanning bed business Wednesday evening.
Lt. John McAlister said the suspect apparently entered The Sun Room and asked the clerk for change. When the attendant went to get what was requested of her, the robber grabbed the cash register and headed for the door.
He said two people at the business, located at 2315 15th St., unsuccessfully attempted to stop the suspect when he reached the door. He said the man got away with the register and its contents of receipts and cash.
Reports described the man as 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall with a light moustache. The witnesses said he was wearing a black denim coat with a black shirt with red lettering. He was also wearing black pants. Witnesses could not tell police which direction the man headed after the robbery.
McAlister said anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Meridian Police Department's CrimeStopper line at 485-1860.
