A elderly Meridian man struck by a car while riding his bike Thursday night died less than 24 hours after the accident, Lauderdale County Coroner Marl Cobler said.
Cobler said Warren Williamson, 58, died of massive head trauma at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, where he was taken shortly after the 9 p.m. accident at Fifth Avenue and 18th Street.
Police said they do not expect to file charges in connection with the accident.
DeBord said the driver of the car was Darryl Brewer.
Cobler said Williamson died about 5 p.m. Friday of injuries suffered in the collision. DeBord said the deceased was not wearing protective head gear.
