Meridian City Council members will work through a lean agenda at Tuesday night's meeting.
The Jackson-based developers working to prepare the Wal-Mart Super Center site on North Frontage Road have requested an exception from the city's Subdivision Ordinance.
The Mattiace Company has asked the council to allow them to widen entrances to the properties from the maximum 33 feet to 39 feet for easier accessibility.
Mayor John Robert Smith and council members will be presented a special award for their 10 years of involvement in the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System. The award is given by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Meridian has a Class 8 rating, and those who purchase flood insurance inside the city receive a 10 percent discount.
Council members are also expected to approve a grant application from the Community Development Department for a Certified Local Government Grant. The grant, awarded by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, could be used to train members of the city's Architectural Review Board and Historical Preservation Commission. The $2,500 grant requires a matching amount of money to also be paid by the CDD.

The council will consider a bid of almost $56,000 from Information Systems Business of Ridgeland for imaging hardware, software and computer services. The equipment will be used by city's Finance and Records Department to prepare council orders and resolutions.
The city's Internet/e-Mail policy will be placed on the council's study agenda Tuesday. The city is reviewing its policies on the Internet to prevent any abuse by city employees. City employees will now be asked to sign an agreement that gives the city permission to review their use of the Internet, including e-Mail messages.
