Meridian takes pair from Northeast

The Meridian High Wildcats and Lady Wildcats soccer team took a pair of contests at Northeast Lauderdale on a cold Tuesday night.
In the first game, the Lady Cats, exploded for seven goals in the shutout victory over the Lady Trojans.
Erin Brown got the hat trick as she booted three scores, while Kelly Brown added two. Ramey Rush and Deanna Harris each chipped in with a goal.
Sarah Denham recorded a save for MHS, who improved to 3-2 on the season.
Meridian 2, Northeast 1: Northeast Trojan Chase Spencer scored a goal in the first half, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats eventually came out on top in the hard-fought contest.
Peter Davidson scored MHS' first goal of the night, and the Cats added the game-winner late in the second half.
In the first half, MHS outshot the hosts 7-5, while NEL had the upper hand, 6-4 in the second half. The loss drops the Trojans to 1-2. They move on to face West Jones next Thursday.
MHS heads to Wayne County next Monday for two matches beginning at 5:30 p.m.
