Hectic Christmas season has Santa on the move

So many people to see, so little time.
Elf Joey said once Santa's boots are shined and his suit is cleaned, he's going to drop by Carol Merrill Academy of Dance.
Meridian's Christmas Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7. It is sponsored each year by the Downtown Association with this year's theme "A Cartoon Christmas."
Liz Coats, Meridian parade organizer, said Santa always rides on the last float in the parade, which so far has more than 100 entries.
Before the Meridian parade, however, Elf Joey said Santa will appear in Quitman's downtown parade Friday (Dec. 1).
Quitman City Parade begins at 4:30 p.m. with Jones Junior High School and Quitman High School bands leading the way. Lineup is at 3:30 p.m. at Quitman's First Baptist Church on East Franklin Street.
Santa is also slated to appear in DeKalb Dec. 4 in the parade held every year in Kemper County.
The DeKalb parade, sponsored by the Kemper County Chamber of Commerce, will include floats featuring the theme "Christmas Past."
The Kemper County parade will begin at Gewin Avenue facing south with kicking-off time at 6 p.m.
Next in line is the Union Parade.
Elf Joey said Santa will have to fly fast down the road afterward to make it in time to take part in Hickory's parade, which is also scheduled for Dec. 9.
The Hickory Chamber of Commerce's 2000 Christmas Parade begins at 3 p.m. in front of the Chamber building.
