When every tick of the clock adds another second of stress to an already busy life, where can you seek relief?
Michael and Ginger Stevens are hoping to help people deal with that all too-familiar, hurry-up lifestyle when they open the doors to their new stress relief shop, "Time Out for Healthy Living," on Dec. 4.
Aroma-steam, paraffin treatments and therapeutic massages are among the specialties awaiting those who want to "take more responsibility for their own health," said Michael Stevens, co-owner of the North Hills business.
Stevens, who holds a degree in journalism, said when life sent him looking for answers to a stress-free, health-enhanced lifestyle, his educational background provided a strong foundation for research in nutritional science and complementary medicine.
He and his wife and co-owner, Ginger, are nationally certified massage therapists and graduates of the Institute of Therapeutic Massage and Movement following internships at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Massage is one of the most effective non-medicinal forms of therapy available, he said.
The husband and wife team also rely heavily on the healthy benefits provided by the enhancement of all the natural senses.
Candles, music, essential oils and light, natural colors were also taken into consideration with the decor and atmosphere of Time Out, he said.
In addition, Time Out offers unique items that can be taken with clients when they leave the shop located at 4925 Poplar Springs Drive.
Both of them give workshops and often speak to corporate professionals as part of corporate benefit packages. Future engagements will begin in March.
Time Out will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with therapy services offered by appointment only. Call 485-8888 for more information.
