NEWTON Bond is expected to be set today for two 17-year-old men arrested in connection with a weekend armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Spencer Whitfield of Lawrence and Mark Montgomery of Newton were arrested for allegedly robbing Mexico Lindo, a Mexican restaurant located at 117 Church St., and beating the restaurant owner and one of his friends.
The attack occurred Saturday night shortly before 11:30.
Curry said the two men ran to the police station and reported the incident to a dispatcher.
The victims were taken to Newton Regional Hospital. One was later transferred to University Medical Center in Jackson, but both have been treated and released.
Curry said he would not release the victims' names.
