ECCC women enjoying good times

DECATUR It doesn't really matter to East Central Community College women's basketball coach Sammy Pace that his Lady Warriors are ranked No. 24 in the nation.
What matters to the long-time ECCC coach is what lies ahead for his Lady Warriors.
Pace's troops have raced out to a 9-2 record but face a brutal second half of the season against a loaded South Division. Ranked ahead of EC is undefeated and No. 7 Copiah-Lincoln and No. 14 Gulf Coast, which has only one loss and that was to East Central.
So far, Pace has gotten the most out of his Lady Warriors. To begin the season, the Lady Warriors lost team captain Soshia Lilly with a knee injury. Three other players have left the team for personal reasons.
And by looking at the stats, Pace sees several things he likes. His leading scorer is former Lake standout Nicole Cox who is averaging 15 points a contest. His leading rebounder is USM signee Anna Udicova who is averaging seven rebounds and 14 points a game.
