QUITMAN Services for James Edward Griffith were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Manning officiating. Burial was to be in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Wayne County. He was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Griffith, 95, of Waynesboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Magnolia Personal Care.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Lessie Massey will be held today at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel, with the Revs. Ricky Wilcher and James Warren officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Massey, 78, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Neshoba County General Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Nowell of Philadelphia and Brenda Cowden of Springfield, Mo.; three sons, Billy Joe Massey and Chalmus Massey, both of Philadelphia, and Kenneth Jerome Massey of Carthage; two sisters, Effie Carter of Gautier and Rosie Coats of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother, William Sims of Pascagoula; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

QUITMAN Services for Randall Eldridge Miller will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Doggett officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Clarke County.
Mr. Miller, 56, of Snellville, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, in Tucker, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Miller and a daughter, Danielle Miller, both of Snellville.
LAMAR SMITH
Retired production manager with Pepsi-Cola of Columbus
COLUMBUS Graveside services for Lamar Smith will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army with the 5th Armored Division in North Africa and Italy.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Townsend Smith of Columbus; a daughter, Linda Wood and her husband, Gene, of Columbus; two sisters, Elzie Townsend and Lola Mae Allen, both of Collinsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Alexander and Janie Edna Smith.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
ALMA J. PONDER
Services for Alma J. Ponder will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. James Ruffin and Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Ponder, 103, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in Meridian.
Survivors include a daughter, Edith Calhoun of Meridian; a son, Floyd D. Ponder Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas, 69, of Lauderdale, Died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, in his home.
Survivors include a daughter, Janie Thomas, and two sons, James Thomas Jr. and Clarence Thomas, all of Chicago; five sisters, Ola V. Bryant of Toomsuba, Mary V. Owens, Annie C. Washington and her husband, Josh, and Attie Ruth Burks and her husband, Lonnie, all of Chicago, and Mary Ann Stevens, of Detroit; four brothers, Willie Frank Thomas, Sylvester Thomas, Willie Lee Thomas and his wife, Estella, and Elizah Thomas and his wife, Sharon, all of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Arlena Thomas.
