Ken Storms, Meridian's chief administrative officer and a former commanding officer at Naval Air Station Meridian, has been chosen as the new president of the Navy League.
Storms was chosen president Tuesday night at the group's annual meeting at Union Station. Storms follows Jamie Williams as leader of the group.
Storms said he wants to help create a recreational site within the city limits for Naval personnel to use.
Storms says an ideal spot for the small recreational facility would be in Bonita Lakes Mall. He said giving the base personnel a place to rest fits into the Navy League's overall support mission.
Storms said the group will also continue its primary mission to educate civilians about the mission of the Navy base. The group also sponsors the annual Military Citizen of the Year Award.
Storms was the Navy League's vice president last year, and has served on the group's board of directors for seven years.
