Copiah downs Lamar 50-48

Copiah Academy used a pair of clutch three-pointers to down Lamar School's boys 50-48 in overtime in area high school basketball action Thursday night.
The Raiders, who are now 4-6, lost despite a 30-point, 11-rebound effort from Jared McKee who was 11-of-16 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line.
Lamar started the game with a 13-4 run and was up 19-16 at halftime. Copiah rallied, however, tying the game at 42-42 on a three-pointer with eight seconds left in regulation.
The Raiders lost when Copiah hit another long-range bomb to go up 50-48 in the closing seconds of the overtime period.
Dusty Jones added eight points and six rebounds for Lamar, while Ryan Satcher and Cooper Huff had six rebounds and four assists apiece.
Lamar returns to action Monday when the Raiders host Central Hinds in an Academy 3-AAA contest.
Patrician Academy 42, Clarke Prep 26: The Lady Saints improved to 4-1 on the season with an easy win over Clarke Prep.
Patrician got 12 points from Stephanie Gwynn and nine points apiece from Brooke Norris and Brooke Dobbins. PA is at Demopolis Academy Saturday.
Clarke Prep was led by Jenna Phillips' 10 points.
