Police say they have few leads in an armed robbery and a shooting that took place in Meridian this weekend.
Lt. John McAlister of the Meridian Police Department said employees of Subway Sandwich Shop at 1729 Highway 39 Bypass told investigators two men entered the store about 8:30 p.m. Sunday brandishing a gun.
McAlister said the two employees were shoved into the freezer, where they waited until they heard the front door open.
McAlister said the both suspects are about 5 feet 11 inches tall and wore black ski masks during the robbery. One was wearing a plaid jacket, while the other worn blue jeans and black thermal pants. One was armed with a small-caliber handgun.
An undetermined amount was money was taken.
Also under investigation is a shooting about 9 p.m. Saturday night. McAlister did not identify the victim, who reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the side and is currently hospitalized.
Investigators believe the shooting took place in Meridian's Red Line district, where officers had answered a disturbance call earlier in the evening. Detective Brandon Pritchard said he learned someone had been wounded only when Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center emergency room personnel called to report they were treating a gunshot victim.
