SCOOBA To accommodate students unable to register during regular hours, East Mississippi Community College will remain open until 6 p.m. Jan. 4.
Registration will be held in the Stennis Hall Lobby on the Scooba campus.
East Mississippi Community College, Meridian Naval Air Station Extension will offer short-term afternoon and night classes Jan. 8 through March 7.
The 4 to 7 p.m. classes include: Western Civilization I, Traffic Law, English Composition I, Physical Science Survey with Lab, and General Psychology on Mondays and Wednesdays; and Principles of Accounting I, General Biology I with Lab, Introduction to Computer Concepts, Calculus I, The Real Number System and Old Testament Survey on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The 7 to 10 p.m. classes include Legal Environment of Business, Criminal Investigation II, English Composition II, English Literature I, American History I, American National Government on Mondays and Wednesdays; and Microcomputer Applications, American Literature I, Human Growth &Development, College Algebra, and Physical Science Survey with Lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

SCOOBA East Mississippi Community College is offering classes over the Internet beginning Jan. 8.
To take classes from the Mississippi Virtual Community College, students should have access to a computer and an e-mail address. These online classes are transferable to other community colleges in the state of Mississippi.
Spring Internet classes are: Principles of Accounting I, Art Appreciation, General Biology I (two sections), General Biology II, Microcomputer Applications, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Corrections, Introduction to Computer Concepts (two sections), English Composition II, Human Growth and Development, Mortuary Anatomy II, Psychosocial Counseling in Funeral Services, World Geography, World Civilization I, Personal and Community Health, College Algebra (with Graphical Approach), General Psychology, Oral Communications and American History I.

The Meridian Community College Literary Review is offering a call for works for its next publication.
Writers of almost all ages high school students, community college students and community residents are encouraged to submit their writings. Three categories comprise the contest: short story, informal essay and poetry. Contestants can enter one or all categories.
There is a $50 award for each first place; $25 for each second place; and $15 for each third place. Prizes are furnished by The MCC Foundation.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra will host the Seventh Annual Rev. Ray Dunmyer Youth Concerto Competition on Feb. 17, 2001, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building on the campus of the University of Alabama.
Included in this competition is The Bridges/Modica Instrumental Award and The Tuscaloosa Symphony Guild/Bickley Piano Award.
Eligible entries must be students of piano, strings, woodwinds, brass or percussion in grades seventh through 12th. Repertoire required is one movement of a concerto or equivalent work with a legitimate orchestral accompaniment. A suggested repertoire list will be provided, however, other works may be considered. The piece must be memorized and accompanied by a piano reduction of the orchestral score for the competition.
Applicants must provide their own accompanist. A panel of judges will award one winner, one alternate and one honorable mention in both the instrumental and piano divisions. The two winners will perform with the TSO on the Family Concert on March 17, 2001. Applicants will be notified as to their audition time. Previous winners are not eligible for this competition.
