Main Street Meridian announces free movies for the kids at the Temple Theatre on Dec. 22-23. The shows will begin at noon both days.

Michael's River Walk Garden open to public
Stroll through swaying Spanish moss along the Chickasawhay River, view a depiction of the Christ child, angels, butterflies, shamu, deer and hundreds of lights in Michael's River Walk Garden.
The Garden is open Dec. 15-24 (closed Dec. 22), from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Drive or walk through. It is located on the Enterprise and Stonewall Clarke County River Road 320.

Christmas at the Old Capitol
Held Dec. 5-22 in Jackson, this even has become a tradition enjoyed by thousands each holiday season. It is held in the 155-year-old historic Greek Revival structure that once served as the state capital building. UNION Dr. John DeChairo, professor of guitar music at the University of Southern Mississippi, will perform Christmas music on guitar Friday, at 7 p.m., at Union United Methodist Church. Admission is free.
Candlelight Service at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church
A Candlelight Christmas Eve Service will be held at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church on Sunday at 9 p.m. The public is invited to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Childcare will be provided.
St. Paul United Methodist Church invites the public to their Gospel Christmas Eve service on Sunday at 6 p.m. Come and witness "What's in the Manger?" a skit musical production, portraying the birth of Christ, under the direction of Jonas Crenshaw Jr. The church is located at 2705, 13th Street, Meridian.

PENNINGTON, Ala. The outdoor lighting display "Trinity Christmasland" will be presented at Trinity United Methodist Church, from 6-9 p.m. nightly, through Dec. 24. A live Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting and hot chocolate will be served. For more information, call Mary Faile at (205) 654-2473.
Saturday, Dec. 30
LAKE The Freemans, Hosanna, Carole Gaddis, Renee Gibbs and The Gibbs Family will be in concert Dec. 30, at 6 p.m., at The Sanctuary. Admission is free, however a donation of $7 is requested. The First Apostolic Church family will host a "Count Down 2001" watch night celebration, Sunday, Dec. 31, at 7 p.m. There will be a foot washing ceremony, communion will be served, praise and worship will be live. Guest speaker is Evangelist Easter Robertson of New Jerusalem Church of Shuqualak.
