East Central sweeps pair at Southwest

East Central Community College ventured to Southwest Mississippi Thursday night and swept a pair of South Division juco basketball games from the host Bears and Lady Bears.
ECCC's women nipped Southwest 72-68, then the men completed the sweep with an 81-78 win.
The Warriors are now 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the South race, while the Lady Warriors are 11-3 and 2-1.
The East Central men got 17 points apiece from Markeith Brown and Winfred Craig, a former Louisville High School standout. Joe Copeland, ex-Neshoba Central sharpshooter Chris Webb and former Newton County Academy star Matthew Roebuck all added nine points.
Margo Porter of Louisville led the Lady Warriors with 21 points, while Nicole Cox of Lake scored 14. Forest's Sophia Reed added 11 and Nikki Lacour had 10.
East Central returns to action Tuesday at Decatur, when the Warriors and Lady Warriors host Jones County in another South Division showdown.
