Noxapater girls overcome slow start

The Noxapater girls managed only three points in the first quarter of their matchup against Maben Thursday night, but it didn't take long for Cory Cleveland's bunch to warm up.
The Lady Tigers outscored Maben in each of the following three quarters, knocking off the Lady Devils 47-35.
Noxapater, which is now 6-7, rallied to tie things at 18-18 at halftime, then used a 19-8 run to open the second half and take control.
Rebecca Coward scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Lady Tigers. Deidre Triplett and Tina Robbins had eight points apiece and Krystle Hunter scored six.
Maben was led by Constance Logan, who scored nine, and Rozalin Ward and Candra Bell, who had eight apiece.
The Lady Tigers host French Camp tonight.
Morton girls 54, Sebastopol 44: The Lady Panthers outscored Sebastopol 14-0 in the third quarter, then held on for the win in the opening night of the Scott County Tournament at Scott Central.
The 16-7 Lady Panthers take on top-seeded Lake today at 4 p.m. in the semifinals. Morton's third-quarter run put the Lady Panthers up 46-29 before they were outscored 15-8 in the fourth.
Teresa Ealy scored 22 to lead Morton, while Tara Grieves pumped in 17.
Ashley Johnson led three Lady Bobcats in double figures with 13 points. Brooke Thrash had 11 and Angie Pullen 10.
