NEWTON Services for Steve M. Purvis were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken McLemore officiating. Burial was in Sharon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Purvis, 44, of Newton, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, in his home. He was a member of Lake Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a daughter, Angel Purvis of Newton; three sisters, Sheryl Madore and Rita Faye Braddock, both of Columbia, Tenn. and Nelda Purvis of Carthage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve D. and Bobby May Purvis.
Pallbearers were Jeff Griffin, Danny Bennett, Wayne Withers, Joel Monk, Ronnie Richardson and Jeff May.

Services for George W. Smith Jr. will be held today at 11 a.m. at Buckatunna Baptist Church with Revs. Ronnie Cooper and Buddy Braddock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 82, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at King's Daughters &Sons Rest Home. He served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie McCary Smith of Meridian; three sons, LaNoyette Smith and his wife, Maureen, of Meridian; Leland Smith and his wife, Charlene, of Hazelhurst and Stevie Smith of Meridian; a sister, Christine Williams; a brother, Robert Smith of Quitman; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to Buckatunna Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Graveside services for Mildred Allen Morgan will be held today at 11 a.m. at Toomsuba Cemetery with the Revs. Duaine Morgan, Jay Cook and Raymond Leake officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Morgan, 63, of Toomsuba, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at The University Medical Center in Jackson. She was a member of Toomsuba Baptist Church, a former member of Meridian Community College Chorus and member of Mississippi Horticultural Association.
Survivors include her husband, Philip L. Morgan of Toomsuba; two daughters, Deanna Morgan Phariss of Toomsuba and Jayna Morgan Robinson and her husband, Everett, of Meridian; her mother, Lottie Allen of Toomsuba; two sisters, Dr. June Pegues of Hattiesburg and Jane Allen of Kentucky; a brother, Millard R. Allen Jr. of Toomsuba; and three grandchildren, Shane Phariss, Summer Robinson and Jake Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Millard R. Allen Sr.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Todd Morgan, Tim Morgan, Daryl Davis, the Rev. Mike Allen, David Bailey and Dane Morgan.

Mrs. Jackson, 70, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, in her home.
Survivors include her husband, Fulton Jackson, a daughter, Cathy Jackson Smith, her mother, Earline Price, all of Philadelphia; and a brother, James Price of Vicksburg.

Services for James M. Roundtree will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Newbaker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville at 12:30 p.m.
Mr. Roundtree, 83, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a Blue Grass music fan.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas S. "Tommy" Roundtree and his wife, Linda, of Athens, Ala. and Jimmy W. Roundtree and his wife, Linda, of Collinsville, five grandchildren, Pamela Gay Hayes, Amy Files, Jamie Roundtree , Clay Roundtree and Douglas Waselesky; four grandchildren and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Watson Roundtree and a daughter, Patricia Waselesky.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burrow, 75, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include three daughters, Marylin Hughes of Hanover, Md., Dovie Cox of Philadelphia and Carolyn Ray of DeRidder, La.; three sons, Thomas Burrow of Madison, Calvin Burrow Jr. and Lonnie Dee Burrow both of Fannin; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

LAUREL Services for Richard W. Clarke will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Memory Chapel with the Revs. Robby Johnson and Joe Stringer officiating. Burial will be in Myrick Cemetery in Jones County.
Mr. Clarke, 46, of Laurel, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, in Jasper County. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with his son, Hunter. He was a devoted husband and father and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Clarke of Laurel; a son, Hunter Clarke of Laurel; a daughter, Leah Clarke of Anderson, Ind.; his parents, John and Mary Clarke of Meridian; a sister, Nan Wade and her husband, Steve, of Meridian; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Levell and Sue Sharp of Meridian; three nieces, Kristina Sharp, Jennifer Olson and Krystal Sharp; and three nephews, Johnny Sharp, Alan Sanders and Matthew Sanders.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Parker, Mark Thornton, Steve Wade, Edward Clarke, Frankie McGee and Dennis Bush.

Mr. Weir, 82, of Newton, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Newton Regional Hospital. He was a member of Garlandville United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a VFW member.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Maslen Weir of Newton; four sons, Waddie Weir Jr. and his wife, Terri Lynn, of Poencianna, Fla., Levi Charles Weir and his wife, Babara, and Larkin Darrel Weir, all of Newton and David Allen Weir of Kissimee, Fla.; two sisters, A.Z. Lewis of Newton and Mamie Alice Thomas of Decatur; a brother, Jim C. Weir; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Levi Ebb and Mary Rowena Weir.
Pallbearers will be Larkin Weir, Charlie Weir, Richard Weir, Forest Lee Masien, Ricky Jaskson and Donald Godwin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Elmore, Abe Mattox, Sammy Weir, Sam T. Weir, Justin Weir and J. Paul Everett.
