Students of St. Patrick Catholic School gathered in the school's gym Monday morning to receive a proclamation from Mayor John Robert Smith declaring Jan. 28-Feb. 2 National Catholic Schools Week.
The mayor explained the proclamation to the children.
Smith received a St. Patrick School button and a guardian angel to put on the visor of his car.
Thousands of Catholic schools nationwide are participating in the weeklong observance recognizing citizens, educators and parents who support Catholic schools.
