After what she called a period of heavy thought and prayer, Ward 3 Councilman Barbara Henson qualified for re-election Wednesday.
Henson qualified as a Republican. If elected, she would begin serving her fourth term on the city council. She is the owner and operator of Barbara Henson's Nursery School, Kindergarten and Swim Gym.
Henson, 66, said she has always held a special place in her heart for public office. She said her fondness for local government began at an early age.
Henson, in part, fulfilled those aspirations in 1972 when she was elected an election commissioner for District 3 in Lauderdale County. She held the position until 1980.
Henson said she was pleased to be part of some big decisions during her current term.
According to Henson, one of her best traits on the council may be that of peacemaker.
If she is re-elected Henson said she would work on several new projects, including road re-paving efforts.
