Both Forest teams advance in 7-3A tourney

The Forest Bearcats advanced to the second round of the Division 7-3A Tournament with a 60-59 win over homestanding Collins Monday night.
Forest trailed by 10 points, 32-24, at the halftime break, but came back strong in the second half to take a one-point win.
The Bearcats were led by Paul Brown with 21 points and Trevarrous Willis with 20. Boone Braxton chipped in 14 points.
Marvin Gray led Collins with 24 points.
Forest moves on to face top-seeded Heidelberg on Thursday. Tip-off for that game is set for 5:30 p.m.
Forest girls 44, Collins 25: The Lady Bearcats were also victorious in their 7-3A opener, outscoring host Collins in all four quarters.
Latrice Spivey scored a game-high 18 points to lead defending Class 3A state runnerup Forest, while Sophia Gray scored 14 points.
Scott Central girls 77, MSD 25: The second-seeded and defending Class 1A state champion Lady Rebels opened the Division 6-1A Tournament with an easy win over the Mississippi School for the Deaf.
Scott Central improved to 23-9 with the win, jumping to a 24-3 lead in the first quarter and taking a commanding 42-5 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Britney Burks pumped in 18 points to lead the Lady Rebels, while Tameshia Butler scored 16. Katie Nickson and Elyse Clay were also in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Sebastopol boys 83, MSD 53: The Bobcats improved to 15-11 on the season behind 19 points from Curtis Price as Sebastopol advanced on the boys' side of the Division 6-1A Tournament at Lake.
Antonio Holley added 17 points for the Bobcats, while Sylvester Snow scored 15 and Vyrean Fountain 10.
Sebastopol led by just two points after one quarter, but exploded for 25 points in the second period and 32 more in the third.
