After weeks of searching for a new head football coach, officials at Clarkdale Attendance Center have landed Wayne County defensive coordinator and head baseball coach Bubba Hathorn.
A press conference was to be held at the school this morning to formally introduce what should only be regarded by Clarkdale fans as a new and exciting era.
Hathorn, who is leaving a program that already highly-touted for next season, said it was a matter of wanting to get back to the head coaching level.
Hathorn was a graduate assistant at USM in 1991. He also kicked around as a head coach in the Mississippi Private School Association in the late 1980s and early 90s.
Hathorn came to Wayne County in 1996 after a one-year hiatus, and will make his departure official after the completion of the War Eagles' baseball season.
Principal Charles King said Hathorn was the best possible fit for the new vision at Clarkdale.
