Meridian police say they do not know if charges will be brought against a suspect being questioned in connection with an early Friday morning shooting.
Lt. Wade Johnson, department spokesman, said police officers were called to the scene of Your Place nightclub at 3203 Old U.S. Highway 45 North around 1:15 a.m.
They arrived to find Christian J. Torres, 29, of 2905 Highway 45 North, shot in chest. Torres was transported to Rush Foundation Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition at press time.
Johnson said investigators were able to recover a handgun at the scene but would not say what type of gun it was.
Johnson said he is not sure if or when there will be an arrest in the case.
Johnson said investigators plan to interview Torres as soon as he feels well enough to talk.
