Organizers of this year's 2001 Excellence in the Arts Awards say forms are still available for nominating honorees, although the deadline for making nominations is drawing near.
Last year's winners include Dr. Claire Fox Hillard, conductor for Meridian Symphony Orchestra, Artist Achievement Award; Bob Hermetz, music instructor at Meridian Community College, Arts Educator Award; and Emma McCain, individual Arts Patron Award. Nominations also may be made for corporate or business Arts Patron Award.
Deadline for submitting names is March 28.
All nomination forms must be submitted in a sealed envelope, marked "Nomination Enclosed."
Nominations may be mailed to Debbie Martin, P.O. Box 1405, Meridian MS 39302, or dropped off at Cartmell Gallery or Meridian City Hall's Cultural Affairs office by the deadline date.
Honorees will receive their awards at a reception April 6 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Denzel Carousel in Highland Park. The evening will continue at the Frank Cochran Center with MCC's Big Band Ball. Tickets are $15 per person and may be obtained at the door or by calling Michele Thames at 484-8696.
Arts in the Park, set for April 7-9, is now in its 30th year. This year it will include its traditional attractions and activities with a few new features, Martin said.
Forms may be obtained by calling Connie Royal at 485-1944.
