LIVINGSTON, Ala The University of West Alabama softball team (6-10, 1-8 GSC) returned to action on Monday to take on the Lady Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial.
In a rainy day at the UWA Softball Complex, the Tiger offense could not muster a run, as LMU took game one 3-0.
Lincoln Memorial scored two runs in the third and a lone run in the sixth to take home their second Gulf South Conference win of the year. LMU's starting pitcher, Nicki Miller went seven innings only allowing three hits and racking up eight strikeouts, en route to improving her record to 8-2.
Keli Jo Lenz and Kim Quattlebaum led the Tigers offensive attack with one hit apiece. Zayne Smith pitched seven innings allowing three runs to cross the plate and struck out seven opposing batters. The loss drops Smith's record to 5-5.
Amanda Haynes led Lincoln Memorial's offensive attack with a 1-for-3 day, including a home run and two RBI. Lacey Serman, Mindy Miller, and Christie Satterfield also pitched in with one hit apiece.
Game two of the conference doubleheader was called due to the weather conditions. The West Alabama Softball team will be back in action on Tuesday to finish a Gulf South Conference series with Lincoln Memorial. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the UWA Softball Complex.
