Neshoba Central takes 6-4 win over Northeast

Northeast Lauderdale fell to 5-4 on the year with a 6-4 loss to Neshoba Central on Monday.
Will Gardner was the only multiple hitter for the Tigers, who stranded 10 baserunners during the contest and gave up four unearned runs in the first inning.
Weather permitting, Northeast will face Quitman tonight at 7 p.m. A junior varsity game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Late Results
West Lauderdale 7, Demopolis, Ala. 6: The Knights rallied from a 5-0 deficit and got a game-saving catch from left-fielder Van Wilson to knock off Demopolis Saturday night.
West trailed 5-0 early, but tied it up and eventually took the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh, Demopolis had the game-tying and potential game-winning runs on base when Wilson made a diving catch in left field to nail down the win.
Ryan Clay (3-0) got the win on the mound, striking out seven and walking just one in 62/3 innings of relief.
Sixth-ranked West (10-1) won despite getting outhit 11-6. Trent Posey had a triple and a single and Brad McKee a two-run triple to lead the Knights, while Josh Snider, Todd Doolittle and Ike Munn all had hits, as well.
West Lauderdale 9, Greensboro, Ala. 7: In their first game across the state line Saturday, the Knights got a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to take this extra-inning thriller over Greensboro.
Doolittle improved to 5-0 on the mound, recording all eight of his outs by strikeouts in a 22/3 inning relief performance.
In all, West had 21 strikeouts, as McKee started and fanned 10 hitters in five innings of work, and Posey struck out three men in 11/3 innings on the hill.
Clay slapped a homer and two singles to lead West at the plate, while Munn had a homer and single and Miles Joyner a double and two singles.
Richie McAlister also had two hits for the Knights, while Snider and Posey each had doubles.
West is scheduled to host Carthage tonight, then entertain Velma Jackson Friday at 4 p.m., before hosting Meridian High Friday at 8 p.m.
