Boles, Clarkdale coast to easy victory in Enterprise Invitational

Daniel Boles fired a 76 and Clarkdale bested the rest of the field in the Enterprise Invitational Golf Tournament by 31 strokes at Ponta Creek Golf Course at NAS Meridian.
Boles, a Meridian Community College signee, led a balanced Bulldog attack that had Clarkdale coach Ronny Roberts wearing a smile.
Clarkdale, which fired a team total of 324, had the top three individual scores in the six-school event.
In addition to Boles' medalist honors, freshman Jared Culpepper fired an 80, while junior Tyler Phillips shot an 82. Sophomore William Clinton followed that up with an 86 and senior Paul Gower fired an 87.
The Enterprise tourney had a decided Clarke County flavor to the leaderboard, as Quitman finished second with a 355 and the host Bulldogs third with a 367.
Yancy Whitaker and Clark Hunter each shot an 85 to lead Quitman, while Scott Davis shot a 90, Seth Conner a 95 and Barry Howard a 103.
Enterprise was led by Dennis Watson's 89. Kyle Murray and Cody Hicks both shot 92s, Don Moore shot a 94 and Justin Gunn a 95.
The rest of the field included Newton (400), Southeast Lauderdale (403) and Nanih Waiya (458).
Sam Thames led Newton with a 91, Tommy Harthcock shot a 99, Zach Thames a 102, Brett McMillian a 108 and Kurt Nelson a 116.
Southeast was led by Patrick Ezell's 89. Steven Landrum shot a 94, Travis Riley a 107, Kenny Neal a 113 and Chance Dalton a 130.
Nanih Waiya's individual scores included Tyler Walker (107), Dennis Tyler (116), Morgan Wright (117), Russ Woodruff (118) and Chase Boydston (139).
