Lady Tigers split with UAM

MONTICELLO, Ark.The West Alabama softball team traveled to Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday hoping to even their record at 10-10.
Behind a brilliant pitching performance from Zayne Smith in game one, the Tigers grabbed a win, 4-0.
Miranda Whaley and Angela White paced the Tiger attack with one hit and one RBI apiece. Shortstop Dianna Bethea added one RBI while Smith helped her own cause with a 1-for-3 performance.
Game two, UAM 3, UWA 0: In the second game Monticello pitcher Lindsey Kight threw a gem as she pitched a complete game two-hitter to move her record to 12-1.
Tiger freshman Terra DaCorte pitched admirably, allowing only one earned run over six innings of work, but picked up the loss to move her record to 1-5.
Dianna Bethea and Kim Quattlebaum picked up the only two Tiger hits on the day.
The Lady Tigers now sit at 9-11, 3-8 in GSC play.
