The East Mississippi Community College softball team salvaged a split at home with Mississippi Delta Thursday.
In the second game EMCC improved its record to 5-7 with a lopsided 15-4 run-ruling of the Lady Trojans.
MDCC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, before Scooba came back with a three-spot in its half.
Three more runs in the second allowed the host Lady Lions to gain control. Shannon Brown grabbed the victory on the hill for EMCC.
The Lady Trojans grabbed two more runs in the top of the third to inch to within 6-4. But the Lady Lions pounded out five more scores in the bottom half and the rout was on.
The final three runs allowed EMCC to settle things early.
Ursula Conley collected three hits for Scooba, while Kayla Murphy and Brown each slapped a pair.
Game One: MDCC 16, EMCC 14: The Lady Lions bid for a win in the opener fell short, as they could only manage one run in the bottom of the seventh.
In the bottom of the third the hosts plated two runs to break a 1-1 tie, but the 3-1 lead was short-lived, as Delta exploded with a big seven-spot in the fourth.
EMCC put a dent in the Delta lead in their sixth with a barrage of eight runs.
Katherine Hinton suffered the loss for the Lady Lions, who will travel this weekend to play in the Northeast CC Tournament.
Conley and Austyn Gordon grabbed a pair of doubles, while Murphy went yard.
Multiple hitters for EMCC were Brown with two, Conley with two, Murphy with three, Booth with three and Gordon with two.
