The Meridian Community College golf team sizzled for a school tying 4-under par (284) on Monday in the Northwest Community College Invitational at Mallard Point in Sardis.
Eagle ace, Dan Luke, shot a career best 68 (4-under par), and got his second consecutive medalist trophy under his belt.
The 4-under par mark tied an MCC team total record set in 1998 for the most under par as a team. The 1998 squad did so on their home course at Northwood Country Club, while this years team did so on foreign soil.
Eagle golf coach Lou Hart was also impressed with how her team fared in the windy conditions.
MCC won by a 16-shot margin as Hinds Community College placed second with a team total of 300. East Mississippi Community College placed sixth with a 325.
Two other Eagle linksters garnered all-tournament honors as Morgan Stewart and Cameron Hunt lit it up for 1-under par rounds of 71.
MCC's Brandon Laird (74) and Jamie Sullivan (78) rounded out the MCC scoring. The Eagles will be back in action today as they travel to Tupelo's Big Oaks Country Club to compete in the Itawamba Community College Invitational.
