Northeast Lauderdale High School renovating

Work at Northeast Lauderdale High School to meet standards set under the Americans with Disabilities Act should begin soon.
The renovations, which should start April 16, will include remodeling walkways, entrances and restrooms at the school to make them handicap assessable.
Arjen Lagendijk of Kemp Associates PA is the architect for school's renovation plans, and C&A Construction will do the work. C&A Construction gave the school board the lowest bid of $238,000.
The repairs will take an estimated two months to complete.
According to Little, the renovations will be funded by money from the Qualified Zone Academy Bond and a $1 million bond issued by the Lauderdale County School District last spring.
Schools must provide reasonable accommodations to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities as defined by ADA.
The renovations were the subject of a special Lauderdale County School District board meeting Thursday night.
