EMCC splits with Northeast

SCOOBA East Mississippi Community College split a pair of North Division baseball games with Northeast Mississippi Saturday afternoon, winning the opener 5-1 before falling 8-3 in the second game.
In the opener, the Lions got a double and an RBI apiece from Brandon Barrett and Josh Buckley. Trey Wall had a single and an RBI. Jaron Andrews had a pair of singles.
Andy Wilbanks had a single and a double for Northeast.
Kevin Long (3-2) got the win with Eric Davis (5-3) taking the loss. Long allowed only five hits in a complete game outing.
In the second game, Northeast took a 6-0 lead with four runs in the top of the fourth inning.
East Mississippi got a double and an RBI from Ben Mason and a single and an RBI each from Andrews and Todd Harcrow.
Wilbanks (4-2) got the win as Northeast went to 11-3 in the North Division.
Bill Cotton (1-5) took the loss as EMCC fell to 5-9 in the division and 7-21 overall.
EMCC will host Bevill State Monday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
East Central 9-3, Jones 6-0: The Warriors got back in the hunt for a Region 23 Tournament berth with their South Division sweep at Decatur.
EC upped its overall record to 14-15.
Mario Migliacio got the win in the opener with Jason Wooten getting the win in the second game.
