The Meridian High School Lady Wildcats came in third in the Falcon Relays at Columbus Saturday.
Columbus took first place with Tupelo coming in second. Meridian was third followed by Grenada and Olive Branch.
Hiroko Fujimoto took second place in the 3200-meter run, third in the 1600 meters, and fourth in the 800 meters for Meridian.
Osulua Isakalu was seventh in the 800 meters.
Rasheeda Brown came in fourth in the 100 meters, while Kiearra Williams was sixth. Brown placed fifth in the 200 meters, while Williams was seventh.
Dominique Goodwin was third in the 300 meter hurdles.
Amelia Hudson placed seventh in the 400 meters.
In the 4×200 meter relay, Meridian (Brown, Williams, Valencia Hairston, Vanessa McQuarley) came in second.
In the 4×400 meter relay, the Lady Wildcats (Hudson, Brown, Williams, McQuarley) took fourth place.
In the field events, Ashley Curry was second in the shot put and fifth in the discus, while Hairston placed third in the high jump and third in the long jump.
The Meridian junior high girls competed in Columbus on Thursday and came in first overall.
Takymmea Clayton won the long jump.
Carsheena Blanks took first place in the shot put.
Samantha Brooks won the discus with teammate Ashley Clark placing second.
Markesia Powe won the 100 meter hurdles.
Lakuinta May took first place in the 800 meters.
Jessica Crews was second in the 1600 meters.
The 4×200 meter relay team (Clayton, Katisha Young, Brittany Davidson, Marquita Ferrell) placed first.
Young came in second in the 200 meters.
The 4×100 meter relay team (Clayton, Davidson, Ferrell, Sarah King) took second place.
Davidson placed second in the high jump.
The 4×400 meter relay team (Ferrell, Dana Cok, Yinessia Cacapit, Shaciara Alexander) won its event.
Taylor Foster was second in the 400 meters and Tawanna Stringfellow came in second in the 300 meter hurdles.
Northeast Lauderdale
The Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans took first place in Class 4A competition at the Falcons Relays.
Here are the results for the Lady Trojans: Latoya Pringle's time of 19.25 was good for first place in the 100 meter hurdles.
Monique Truman finished fourth in the 100 meter dash, while Danielle McCoy took fifth place.
In the 200 meter hurdles, Audrey Harrison was a third place finisher. Victoria Gryer was sixth in the event.
In the 400 meter run, Jennifer Boyd was a fifth place finisher for Northeast.
In the 800 meter run, April Lossier was third with a time of 2:54.03 a school-best.
Crystal Williams came in fourth here.
Lacey Honeycutt took third in the 1600 meter run with a mark of 6:27.05.
Victoria Entrekin came in fourth. In the 3200 meters Nicole Lovett was fourth.
Honeycutt also was third in the 300 meter low hurdles, while Kim Moore came in fifth.
The 4×400 meter relay team won with a time of 4:26.05. That included, Truman, Jennifer Boyd, Shirlonda Jackson and Quinn Jackson.
In the field events, Pringle took the discus throw with a distance of 95 feet.
Quin Jackson was fourth in the shot put with 33 feet.
Thursday NEL will be competing at MCC in a practice meet with Southeast Lauderdale and Newton High.
