Area minister opens Christian coffeehouse

By Staff
A PLACE OF REFUGE n After checking several locations throughout Meridian, Randy Miller was divinely guided to a downtown building as the site for The Refuge Christian Coffeehouse. The site is a place for Christians and non-Christians to go to drink coffee and take a break for the worries of the day. After constantly hearing "There's nothing for Christian people to do" from local residents, Randy Miller decided to do something about it.
Remembering how much he enjoyed the site, Miller decided to re-establish such a place as an extension of his ministry.
After finding a divinely guided location in downtown Meridian, Miller recently opened The Refuge Christian Coffeehouse.
And while the coffeehouse provides a place for Christians to gather, Miller said it is not an exclusive site.
The Refuge is non-denominational, non-discriminatory and non-profit. There is no charge for admission or for coffee.
The coffeehouse is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m; Friday, 5:30 to 10 p.m; and Saturday, 5:30 to 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday evenings, gospel groups perform and Saturday is also Open Mike Night.
Two weeks after its grand opening, the coffeehouse has had a steady flow of visitors. Miller notes that the building is small, capacity is at 40.
The Refuge Christian Coffeehouse is located at 2212 Ninth St.
