Reports of a new gang bearing the name of the Fubu (For Us By Us) clothing line are circulating among Meridian Public Schools, said MPS Safety Center Director Dr. Sam Thompson.
Fubu gang members are in both city and county schools, he said.
Ironically, gang members do not identify themselves through the clothing line. "We're not talking about kids who wear specifically the Fubu clothing line," Thompson said. "But we have the identities as to a number of students through inside information. They have their own rules, and a lot of them are similar to the rest of the gangs."
School officials reported the activity to make parents aware, he said.
Thompson said so far, other than some minor fighting incidents, no gang activity has been reported on MPS campuses.
