Naval designation ceremony set today

Five student pilots from Naval Air Station Meridian are set to receive naval aviator designation during a special ceremony today.
The event marks the culmination of nearly two years of specialized training, which has prepared these officers for the demands of aerial combat and carrier operations, earning each the title of "naval aviator" and the right to wear the coveted "Wings of Gold."
The ceremony starts at 2:30 p.m. at the chapel.
The guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. James F. Amos, USMC, assistant deputy commandant for Aviation, headquarters.
Five U.S. Navy and Marine Corps pilots will receive wings of gold.
They" are as follows:
Lt. j.g. Daniel Cochran of Kent, Wash.;
Lt. j.g. Douglas Gray of Mililani, Hawaii;
1st Lt. Adam Levine of Greenwood Lake, N.Y.;
Lt. j.g. Jason Van Pietersom of Green Bay, Wis.;
1st Lt. Douglas Seich of Schenectady, N.Y.
