Services for Lorene Vance Leach will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Timmy Fanguy and Randall Creel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Leach, 92, of Conehatta, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Newton.
Survivors include a son, Huston Leach of Conehatta; two daughters, Brenda Crawford of Newton and Louise Walls of Glen Allen; four sisters, Edith Brown of Foley, Ala., Winoah Germany of Union, Myrtle Sessions of Newton and Verna Cornelius of Mobile, Ala.; a brother, Mardis Vance of Mobile; grandchildren, Rob Leach, Ron Leach, Nancy Thorne, Rita Gibbs, Karen Tune, Bobby Joel Leach and Shelly Jensen; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Howard Leach Sr.; two sons, Robert Howard Leach Jr. and Bobby L. Leach; and two grandsons, Mike Leach and Danny Yates.
Pallbearers will be Marc Jensen, Bobby Leach, Mickey Yates, Petty Leach, Gary Tune and Harold Turner.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

SEBASTOPOL Services for Christine Cooper will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Pine Bluff Indian Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Cooper, 76, of Walnut Grove, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services for Douglas D. Calvert will be held Saturday at noon at Pine Grove Church with the Rev. Curtis Dyer officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in the Martin Community. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Calvert, 57, of Marion, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a member of Bakery and Confectionery Union Local No. 315 San Diego, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Calvert of Marion; four children, Douglas E. Calvert and his wife, Angel, of Cleveland, Deborah Chuisand and Scott Calvert, both of San Diego, and Michelle Rampy of Boise, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, Joshua, Candace, Christopher, Charles, Dominick, Daniel, Nickolas, Cody, Brinton, Kendall, Megan and Alexis; a brother, Russell Calvert and his wife, Billie, of San Diego; four sisters, Nita Spears of Omega, Ga., Bobbie Jean Matthews of Martin, Bertice Alday of Martin and Mary Lois McMillian of Borrego Springs, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Calvert of Martin and Mildred Calvert of Spring Valley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Calvert, Earnest Byrd, Ronnie Bennett, Pat Alday, Charlie Mathis and Mike Mathis.

QUITMAN Services for Earnestine Brown will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter M.B. Church in Vossburg with Elder Charles Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Brown, 63, of Shubuta, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her father, David M. Hughes of Meridian; a daughter, Etha Terrell of Shubuta; nine sisters, Sarah L. Williams of New Orleans, Whilamena Harper of Erie, Pa., Shirley M. Barnett and Ethel Lindsey of Shubuta, Betty Riley of Quitman, Sequin Mosley of Meridian, Selena Hughes of Dayton, Va., Janae Rogers of Trenton, Va. and Shemar Hughes of Batesville; 10 brothers, Leroy Terrell and Tommy Terrell of Shubuta, J.C. Terrell of Vossburg, Floyd Terrell of Laurel, Henry Terrell of Quitman, James Terrell of Whitfield, Antonio Hughes, Tahurn Hughes and Semeon Hughes of Meridian and Alvin Hughes of Porchmouth, Va.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and husband.

MILTON MCMULLAN
NEWTON Services for Milton McMullan will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home. Burial will be in Newton Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. McMullan, 97, a resident of Newton for 61 years, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001. His wife, Thelma, died on December 10, 1998.
He was born on January 25, 1904, in Sylvarena. He was the third son of Dillard and Minnie McMullan, who had 11 children and raised nine. The nine children were named Malcolm, Pat, Milton, Dimple, Clementine, Maude, Dillard, Jerry and John. Clementine and Jerry survive.
The Dillard McMullan family moved to Lake in 1921 from Sylvarena. Milton worked in his father's bank until enrolling at Ole Miss where he roomed with the late Sen. Jim Eastland.
After college, he taught history and civics at Lake High School. In 1926 he joined his father's McMullan Motor Company where he sold Model T's, Model A's, Pontiacs, Chryslers, Dodges and Plymouths.
He met Thelma Boozer at the McMullan Motor Company and married her on May 13, 1928. They had four children: Martha Aasen of Westport, Conn., Sarah McMullan of Nacogdoches, Texas, James McMullan of Lake Forest, Ill., and David McMullan of Jackson.
Mr. McMullan is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Other Survivors include daughters-in-law Madeleine McMullan of Lake Forest, Patty McMullan of Jackson; and son-in-law, Larry Aasen of Westport; and sisters, Clementine Brown of Jackson and Jerry Brown of Tupelo.
Mr. McMullan served as vice president of the Lake Bank and managed the motor company after his father's death. In 1940, the Milton McMullan family moved to Newton. Milton and Thelma both owned and managed the McMullan Motor Company until it was sold in 1968.
A long time director of the Newton County Bank, he also served on the Newton School Board, and was a charter member of the Newton Chamber of Commerce. A director of the Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association, he was also a director of the Deep South Equipment Association. In 1967, he was named "Newton's Man of the year."
Mr. McMullan was active in civic and community affairs in the Newton area for nearly 60 years. He helped bring the Newton Company, La-Z-Boy, and ESCO to Newton. Gov. Paul Johnson appointed him to the Mississippi State Park Commission and Milton was a colonel on Gov. Johnson's staff.
After retiring in 1968, his interests included fishing, birds, gardening, genealogy, investing, traveling and writing. He wrote "Lake Chronicles… True Tales of a Mississippi Boyhood" in 1990 and "Profiles from Lake in the Silver Age" in 1993. Milton, Thelma and son, James have sponsored scholarships for Newton High School students since 1987.
Because of his long life, Milton liked to talk about the fact that had seen Halleys comet twice.
The family requests memorials be made to the Newton Public Library.
