Touch of Class wins MWBA tournament

Hi bowling fans. As I said I would in last week's column, I have the results of the ladies MWBA tournament. In the team event, Touch of Class made up of Diane Gable, Willie Mae Aiken, Eunice Dillard, Janie Tisdale, and Shirley Gaines won with a 3140. In doubles, Janie Tisdale and Shirley Gaines had a 1435. In singles, Brenda Robinson led with a 706 and in all events Shirley Gaines had a 2090. Those are the first place winners. The rest of the results are listed with the column. Thanks ladies for a good tournament.
While we are talking about tournaments, the Men's Association Championship got under way Saturday and will run through Sunday the 29th with the last squad starting at 4:30 pm. If you have not entered you can still do so up to 30 minutes ahead of each squad during the tournament. Both Monday and Thursday night's men's league has paid entry so if you have not entered your team please do so. Tournament bowling is more exciting than league so let's go fellows. We want a big turn out.
High games of the week are Tyrone McAlpine with a 299 and Shirley Gaines with a 267. High series of the week goes to Johnnie Blackmon with a 780 and Shirley Gaines with a 707. Good bowling! Now to league high scores. Curtis Rutledge (719 ,708), Kenny Richie (746), Johnnie Blackmon (780, 773), Andrew Clayton (760, 730), Tyrone McAlpine (748), Tim Van Doren (737), Ronnie Thomas (710), Greg Goddard (703), Robert Brown (732) and Shirley Gaines (707).
In Queen City, Tyrone McAlpine rolled a 299 and Johnnie Blackmon had a 780. In Dixie Belles, Shirley Gaines had a nice 267/707. In Ball &Chain, Ken Richie had a 270/746. For the ladies, Shirley Gaines had a 257/673. In Monday Seniors, Boyd Williams had a 220 and Dewitt Griffin had a 598. For the ladies, Mary Copeland had a 183 and Lou Timms had a 513.
In Monday Nighters, Robert Brown had a 270/732 while Debbie Jones had a 191/531. In Hucklebuck, Andrew Clayton had a 278/730. In Tuesday Mixed, Tyrone McAlpine had a 237 and Jim Broderick Jr. had a 614. For the ladies, Richelle Porter had a 210/502. In Bowlerettes, Dorris Smith had a 228 and Lou Timms had a 583. In Northwood, Polly Smith had a 189/481. In Wednesday Mix, Johnnie Blackmon had a 270/773. For the ladies, Sharon McDonald had a 266 and Mary Copeland had a 559.
Well, as you can see the scores are really good, so join one of our summer leagues. You can have some good scores and a lot of fun and fellowship. All summer leagues start the week of May 28th and run for 12 weeks. For more info call 483-2283. I'll close by saying come on guys we want to have a big tournament.
