The Meridian Community College Diamond Eagles and Lady Eagles had a successful Monday taking three of four contests.
Robert Eakin's Lady Eagle squad dropped a 3-2 decision on the road to Wallace Hanceville for the only blemish of the day.
The Lady Eagles are now 35-11 overall and will host Bossier Parish Friday at noon to decide the Region 23 crown.
The Eagles put the broom to the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans at Skaggs Field, run-ruling the visitors in the opener and settling for a close victory in the nightcap.
Russ McNickle's bunch climbs to 35-15 on the year and will hit the field again Wednesday, when they play host to Shelton State in a home double header that begins at 2 p.m.
Baseball
MCC 12, Delta 2: Brian Reed picked up the mound win to improve to 7-2 on the year, striking out four and and allowing only three hits in the mercy-rule shortened affair.
Travis Garner led the offensive attack for MCC, pounding out three hits, including a big three run home run in the third inning that snapped a 2-2 tie.
Ben Shannon went 2-for-3 with a double. Lance Dawkins added a double as well. Other hitters for MCC were Dustin Cliburn and Matt McCleskey.
MCC 4, Delta 2: Curt McLellan improved to 8-3 and reliever Michael Goodson collected his eighth save to end the day.
Cliburn slapped the ball twice in the contest and drove in a run.
Other hitters were Robert Daggett and former Meridian High standout Tyler Scarborough.
Softball
MCC 2, Wallace Hanceville 0: The Lady Eagles got the day in Alabama started off right by plating a run in the first and third innings, before turning it over to their ace, Amy Adcox.
Adcox went the distance to improve to 23-3, despite giving up four hits.
Faith Robinson had two of MCC's three hits.
Wallace Hanceville 3, MCC 2: The hosts scored all of their runs in the second frame to take a 3-1 lead and the Lady Eagles could only muster one more in the fourth for the final margin.
Shanna Blanks put forth a 2-for-2 effort in MCC's six-hit production.
Ryan Reid absorbed the loss yielding three hits to fall to 12-8.
