Kemper COC to hold health fair
The Kemper County Chamber of Commerce has teamed with various health agencies to sponsor a health fair on the Kemper County Courthouse Square in DeKalb from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday.
Blood pressure and cholesterol diabetes checks and stroke screenings will be provided by staff from Meridian's three hospitals. Others participating include the Diabetes Foundation, East Mississippi Community College nursing students, the Department of Human Services, Weems Mental Health Center, the Care Lodge and Sta-Home Hospice.
Ole Miss alumni to meet Wednesday
The University of Mississippi Alumni Association, District 7, will meet Wednesday at Northwood Country Club.
A silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 7 p.m. Featured speakers include: Dr. Robert Khayat, chancellor of the University of Mississippi; Herb Deweese, president of the Ole Miss Alumni Association; David Cutcliffe, head football coach; and Rob Barnes, head basketball coach.

West Lauderdale chorus to present concert
The West Lauderdale High School chorus will present a year-end concert, "A Knight of Song and Dance," tonight at the Temple Theatre. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
The concert will include music from the 54-member SATB concert choir, the SSA choir, the madrigal ensemble, the girls' sextet and the boys' quartet. The choir is accompanied by Chrissy Fincher and directed by Twyla Hurst. There is no admission fee but donations will be collected at the door.
Girls Scout camp to open June 10
Gulf Pines Girl Scouts will sponsor a summer resident camp at Camp Meridale on Causeyville Road from June 10 to July 13. Girls will attend camp for one-week sessions. Metro Ambulance Service to host lunch
Metro Ambulance Service will host a Spaghetti Plate Lunch Wednesday. The cost is $5 and includes spaghetti, roll, cole slaw and dessert. Delivery is available in the city for five or more plates. Mall becomes art gallery for area schools
Three area schools will showcase students' artwork during the month of May at Bonita Lakes Mall. Participating schools include Kemper County High School, Newton High School and Crestwood Elementary in Meridian.
Crestwood Elementary's art will be on display May 1-11; Kemper County High will display May 7-15; and Newton High will showcase May 15-18.

Fund-raiser for Traci Alsup set for Saturday
A fund-raiser for Traci Alsup will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind Gulf Coast Seafood, next door to Chicken Basket on Front Street Extension.
Chicken and rib barbecue plates will be sold for $5. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 for a chance to win a five-pound box of shrimp and five gift baskets. All proceeds will go to help defray medical expenses. Alsup, injured in an car accident, is recovering at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
