The Lamar School golf team proved Thursday, there aren't only the best team in Academy AAA, the are the best team in the MPSA period.
The Raiders captured the Overall Golf Championship that was held at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg Thursday.
And perhaps most impressive was the victory a five -shot margin over Parklane Academy came without a stellar performance from Ole Miss signee and team leader, senior Reid Davis.
Instead it was freshman sensation J.T. Williamson who came through for the Raiders, taking top medalist honors by firing a 69 on a sunny day.
With the victory, Lamar concluded a perfect 13-0 season.
Bryan said he was worried about rain, since Meridian itself was experiencing showers.
What he didn't worry about was his team's ability to make some birdies.
The Raiders recorded a composite score of 296.
Individual scores for the Raiders, included Patton Valentine, who trimmed off five shots from his South State performance to card a 75, Winston Powell's 76, and Austin Holmes with a 77. Davis' 10 on one hole left his score for the day at 83.
The title was Lamar's fifth Overall in the past 11 years.
