PHILADELPHIA Graveside services for Juarene Killingsworth Ruffin were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Cedarlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Duaine Morgan officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ruffin, 72, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in her daughter's home in Philadelphia. She was born in New Augusta and had lived most of her life in Philadelphia. She worked as a legal secretary for 40 years. She also worked with the Philadelphia Arts Council. Mrs. Ruffin served as secretary for the Philadelphia Public School Board for more than eight years and as secretary of the Neshoba County Fair Board of Directors. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ruffin had eight daughters. "Our mother was the most unselfish person we ever knew. She taught us hospitality and compassion. She made our home a place where everyone was welcome. There was hardly a day when someone did not come by."
Survivors include seven daughters, Janet Thrash, Molly Turner, Martha Hancock, Alice Clark and Liz Graham, all of Philadelphia, Lucy Morgan of Starkville and Stacy Oberschmidt of Brookhaven; 16 grandchildren, Keith Thrash, Mali Turner, Dustin Turner, Kip Turner, Joey Turner, Beck Turner, Michael Hancock, Marc Hancock, Casey Clark, Amy Clark, Mallory Smith, Tyson Smith, Lindi Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Olivia Oberschmidt and Ruffin Oberschmidt; and a brother, Jake Killingsworth of Mobile, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry "Billy" Ruffin Jr., and a daughter, Lindsay Lucille.
Pallbearers include her sons-in-law, Larry Thrash, Tom Turner, Mitchell Hancock, Randy Clark, Charlie Graham, Kevin Morgan and Chad Oberschmidt.
LULA DEAN

Services for Lula Dean will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Worley officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Dean, 94, of Picayune died Monday, May 14, 2001, in Picayune.
Survivors include a son, Adrian Dean and his wife, Faye, of Picayune; two sisters, Wydell Clark of Rome, Ga. and Lucy Gibbs of Brandon; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian A. Dean Sr.; and a son, Jerry Wilson Dean.
Visitation will be today beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Cleva Lee Galyean will be held today at 3 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Cliff Pace, Roy Dabbs and Russell Luquire officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Galyean, 85, of Meridian, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Meridian. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, ReDonna Lynn Harrold and Cynthia G. Rainer and her husband, Jackie, a grandson, Wayne Rainer and his wife, Candace, and a great-grandson, Easton Rainer, all of Meridian; three brothers, Earl Neal of Decatur, Steve Neal and Doyle Neal, both of Meridian; four sisters, Paula M. Mitchell and Melba Sparkman, both of DeKalb, and Ree Russell and Bobbie Parker, both of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Galyean; a sister, Ludie Adams; and two brothers, Hester Neal and Lavelle Neal.
Pallbearers will be Shaun Galyean, Chris Galyean, Chase Neal, H.V. Neal, Keith Neal, Waldo Mitchell, Willie Jim Mitchell and R.C. Mitchell.

Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Eva Gunn, 71, of Bailey, who died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
