Opera House board hears progress report

The 21st annual meeting of the membership of the Grand Opera House of Mississippi, Inc. was held Wednesday at Union Station.
President Margaret Remy presided at the luncheon honoring Founder's Circle contributors and outgoing board members. Reports on the Grand Opera House/ Marks-Rothenberg res-toration project were given by special guests Dr. Bev Norment, dean of Mississippi State Univer-sity-Meridian Campus, and Dr. Richard Riley of The Riley Foundation.
Resolutions pertaining to the future conveyance of the deeds of the properties were approved. However, until then, ownership of the buildings remains with the board.
The Grand Opera House of Mississippi, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization. Monthly meetings will continue to be held. New board members elected were: Wingfield Glover Jr.; Dick McMullen and Shea Cummins of Meridian; and Horace Hunt of Livingston, Ala.
The following officers were elected for the coming year: Margaret Remy, president; Louis Bailey, vice-president; Greg Hatcher, secretary; and Dr. Chris Jenkins, treasurer.
