Navy volunteers plan building blitz

The next Habitat for Humanity House, sponsored by Naval Air Station Meridian and the USAA Foundation, will go to Patricia Brown.
The foundation will be poured June 3 at 4101 Ninth Street. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of the month.
Brown, who will put in 500 sweat equity hours before she moves into her new home, said "I still can't believe it."
Command Master Chief Lester S. Andreasen said Navy volunteers are planning a three-week "blitz build" working Monday through Saturday in two shifts from 7 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.-8 p.m.
A site blessing was held Wednesday for the Navy Meridian House. The house will be the 35th built by Lauderdale County's Habitat For Humanity.

On Friday, a dedication and open house will be held at the site of the last house completed by Habitat for Humanity volunteers, at 4103 Ninth Street. The home was sponsored by The Riley Foundation and Poplar Springs United Methodist Church.
