STONEWALL Perfect Promotions could best be described as a small company with big ideas.
Kim Davis started her company in the back of a video store. She had one sewing head that embroidered letters and logos onto shirts and to other materials. She also did screen printings for shirts.
Orders started coming in, including some rather big ones. Within six months, she had to move to a larger location and then quickly outgrew that space. Today, Perfect Promotions is headquartered in the old Burlington Industries cutting plant, located in the Stonewall Industrial Park. There are 10 employees, including Davis.
Davis had never owned a business before, but said she picked up some valuable office experience while working in the office at a local gas company. She first heard about the embroidery business from a friend and got started.
She said she is always learning about the business and requires her employees to stay current, too. She and her husband, Michael, recently went to a trade show and she reads about current trends through publications and the Internet.
While located in Clarke County, Davis sees her market on a global scale. Through the Internet, she has filled orders in 49 states and in Europe. She sees her next big market as being Japan.
She said that she made a lot of contacts during the "Main Event" last month. "We have gotten several orders from that," Davis said.
Davis is originally from east Tennessee, and moved to Stonewall when her parents were transferred in by Burlington Industries.
She and her husband have three sons.
