FATAL ACCIDENTS Rescuers work at the scene of a fatal accident that occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lane of I-20 in Newton County near the Chunky exit.
The driver, Steven Marc Nix, 22, of Florence, Ala., was transported to Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
A separate accident earlier Wednesday on I-59 in Jasper County about 4 miles north of Heidelberg claimed the life of Willie B. Wade, 48, of Meridian. Both accidents are under investigation.
