UBS to hold blood drive
The United Blood Service will hold a blood drive Monday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Southeastern Cash Advance, located on B Street in Meridian.
UBS is still in critical need of all types of blood in order to supply area hospitals. For more information, call 482-2482.
Seniors invited to public hearing
The East Central Planning and Development District/Area Agency on Aging will hold a public hearing about aging programs June 28, at 10 a.m., in the auditorium of the Newton City Hall.
The purpose of this hearing is to inform people about senior programs and services available in Clarke, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Smith counties.
The goals and objectives for fiscal year 2002 will be discussed and an update of current activities will be presented.
Gospel festival set for weekend
The 25th annual Gospel Music Hall of Fame Excellence Awards Festival will be held Friday and Saturday at the Temple Theatre. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. For information, call 482-4774.
Meridian native to hold book-signing
Meridian native Daisy Seale Moore will hold a book-signing Saturday from noon-4 p.m. at Books-A-Million. She will signing copies of her book, "Wings of Love, Poems and Prayers."
VFW Post #3996 hosts fish fry
Frank Foster VFW Post #3996 will host a charity fish fry June 16, at 10 a.m., on the patio of the Kendallwood Craft Building in Highland Park, next to the Dentzel Carousel. Sandwiches will be on sale for $2. Meal with hush puppies, french fries and cole slaw are $3.50.
Silver Leaf to hold open house
Silver Leaf Manor will hold an open house June 21 from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. The event is an opportunity for the Meridian community to tour Silver Leaf and ask questions. There will be fun, food and give-away prizes, including a free night's stay at the Beau Rivage Casino located in Biloxi.
