Students recognized for achievements

LIVINGSTON, Ala. Kelly Pigott of Meridian has been recognized for academic achievement at The University of West Alabama. She is a graduate student in sociology and is the daughter of Marsha Suire.
Two Elizabeth Welsh Riley Scholars have been announced for 2001-2002 at Meridian Community College.
Karla Boutwell of Quitman and Tammy Carroll of Philadelphia will each receive a $1,200 scholarship funded by a memorial endowment established by Dr. Billy Riley of Meridian through the MCC Foundation.
Both Boutwell and Carroll are sophomores in the Associate Degree Nursing Program who intend to continue studies on their bachelor's degree in nursing after graduation from MCC.
Lauren Lee of Meridian will begin her freshman year at Meridian Community College this fall as a Key Brothers Scholar. Lee, a graduate of West Lauderdale High School, will receive the $1,000 scholarship as a student in MCC's University Transfer Program.
The following students were listed on the University of Mississippi's Chancellor's Honor Roll for the spring semester:

Meridian Community College nursing students Denise Davis of Meridian and Valeria Stevenson of Noxapater have each received scholarships for the fall semester from the Volunteer Auxiliary of Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
MONTICELLO, Ark. William J. Smith of Hickory, Miss., received his degree from the University of Arkansas-Monticello during commencement exercises held May 11.

COLUMBUS Kim Burrage of Meridian has been selected to receive a $389 Sara Claire Caldwell Long Scholarship for the 2001-2002 academic year.
The scholarship is awarded to a female junior of senior majoring in chemistry. Burrage is a student at Mississippi University for Women.
