Tradition has it that the number 7 is a lucky number.
You'd get no argument from local golfers Jim Parker and Ed Pigott. The two made holes-in-one on No. 7 at Lakeview Golf Course on back-to-back days last week.
Parker used a 6-iron to ace the 165-yard par-3 on June 3. Witnesses were Brownie Ford, Shane Parker, Mike Ellis, and Tommy Northam.
The next day, Pigott used a 5-iron to get a hole-in-one at the same location. Witnessing his shot were J.B. Tutor, Max Houston, and Rich Houston.
Plenty of tournaments are scheduled for the area in the next few days.
Union Golf Club will host a one-day, 27-hole tournament for seniors (age 55 and up) on Tuesday. Entry fee is $25 per person. For more information, contact Otha Kennedy at 601-774-5734.

The state Father-Son Golf Championship is scheduled for Friday-Sunday at three golf courses in the Jackson area: Canton Country Club, The Refuge Golf Course at Flowood, and Whisper Lake Country Club at Madison. Entry fee is $200 per team. Teams will play each course one day on a rotating basis. The field is limited to the first 216 teams returning a completed entry form with fee to Mississippi Golf Association, 400 Clubhouse Drive, Jackson, MS 39208. For more information, call 601-939-1131.
Lakeview Golf Course will host the second-annual Metro Ambulance Tournament on Saturday. The format is a three-person scramble and the entry fee is $35 per person. Benefits go to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. For more information, contact Clark Wilson at 601-483-2260.
Decatur Country Club will play host to an unusual tournament on Saturday in a Moonlight Two-Person Select. Entry fee is $50 per team which includes a meal, mulligans, and one night ball. For more information, contact Jay Bowen at 601-635-5186 or 601-635-2111 ext. 243.

Lakeview Golf Course will host a two-person scramble on June 23 with a 9 a.m. start. Entry fee for the one-day tournament is $40 per person. That includes greens fee and golf cart. The tournament is sponsored by the American Legion Post 21 for the purpose of raising funds to purchase furniture for the new American Legion Post 21 home on I-20. Briarwood Country Club will be hosting the Buddy McGhee Six-Person Scramble to benefit the American Cancer Society on June 23-24. Entry fee is $300 per team and teams must be entered by June 21. June 25 finds Philadelphia Country Club playing host to a four-person scramble in the first-annual American Heart Association Golf Classic. The tournament begins with a 10 a.m. start. Briarwood Country Club will host the Mississippi Girls Junior State Am on June 26-27.
Northwood Country Club will host the Bill Davis-Fourth of July Tournament, June 29-July 1. Entry fee is $375 per team with the field for the medal play event limited to 96 teams. Tee times are 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day.
Dancing Rabbit Golf Club and Silver Star Hotel and Casino are offering a premium golf package good through Sept. 30. Included in the package are greens fees on 18 holes, cart, accommodations at the Silver Star Hotel, and a continental breakfast. You may also attend a golf clinic taught by a PGA professional with different topics daily.
