Sigler named sports editor of The Meridian Star

Rob Sigler, an experienced sports journalist, has been named sports editor of The Meridian Star, it was announced today.
Sigler, 36, comes to The Star from Picayune where he was sports editor and associate editor of the Picayune Item for the past 11 years.
Sigler will direct a sports staff that includes two award-winning sportswriters, Rocky Higginbotham and Marty Stamper, both of whom have extensive knowledge of area sports activities.
Prior to his work in Picayune, Sigler, who grew up in Gulfport, spent a year as a sports writer/editor at the Valley-Times News in Lanett, Ala.
Following graduation from Harrison Central High School, Sigler went on to Delta State University.
He has one daughter, Arden, age 6, who lives in Gulfport. He is the oldest of Robert and Janis Sigler's three sons.
