Jim and Cris White of Garlandville announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Marie, to Kenneth Ryan Thomas, son of Kenny and Faye Thomas of Toomsuba.
The wedding will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Newton.
Miss White is the granddaughter of Bud and Hazel Bowlin of Liberty; James H. White of Maben and the late Matty Vell White.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Meridian High School and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at Mississippi State University.
While attending MSU, she is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Engineering Ambassadors, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Reformed University Fellowship.
Miss White was a co-op student at EnSafe Inc. in Memphis, Tenn., and is currently employed by Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tenn., as a summer intern.
Mr. Thomas is the grandson of Myrtle Noland Collier of Cuba, Ala. and the late James A. Noland; Ruth Thomas of Toomsuba and the late Kenneth L. Thomas.
The bridegroom-elect attended Northeast Lauderdale High School and is a graduate of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science.
He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at Mississippi State University.
While attending MSU, he is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Engineering Ambassadors, Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, Alumni Delegates and Reformed University Fellowship.
Mr. Thomas was a co-op student at Union Carbide and is currently employed by Eastman Chemical Company as a summer intern.
A reception will be held at Newton Country Club following the ceremony. Family and friends are invited to attend.
